◎简　　介　

河边发现一具男尸，尸体的颈部有勒痕，明显是他杀。但由于面容被捣毁，指纹也被烧掉，很难确定身份。经过缜密调查后，警方判定死者是无业者富樫慎二。贝冢北警署的女警官内海薰展开了调查。

内海走访了慎二的前妻花冈靖子。靖子原是一位陪酒女郎，如今在一家便当屋工作，独力抚养着上中学的女儿。离婚后，靖子为了躲避纠缠不休的慎二多次搬家。虽然存在杀人动机，但靖子声称最近根本没有见过慎二，而且她的不在场证明也无懈可击。内海偶然碰到了靖子的邻居石神哲哉，他和汤川学一样也是帝都大学的毕业生。

和汤川讨论案情时，内海提到了石神。原来汤川和石神当年是同学，虽然不同专业但很谈得来，彼此惺惺相惜。一向自视甚高的汤川称赞石神是“真正的天才”。汤川前往拜访了如今在中学里教数学的旧友。然而在接触中，汤川找到了案情的疑点，他认为石神与这桩谋杀案密切相关。

谎言、盲点、心理交锋……神探伽利略向天才数学家设下的难题发起了挑战。
